Beginners and advanced composters welcome! Visit a “Compost Demonstration Site”, see composting in action, and get to know members of NYC Compost Project and the Lower East Side Ecology Center.

Compost Demo Sites are formally recognized by the NYC Compost Project as exemplary composting operations at community gardens, parks, schools, and institutions that are committed to teaching New Yorkers about the benefits of composting.

Compost experts will be on hand to answer any tricky questions you have about your home composting system. Also see an example of an indoor worm composting bin.

**** PLEASE NOTE: The Lower East Side Ecology Center will help you celebrate Earth Month with chances to recycle your electronics in all 5 boroughs, check out a composting system in a Harlem community garden, and get your hands dirty with gardening East River Park. It all starts Friday!
